Ryan Pastuch Named Head Coach of the Men’s Volleyball Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY – SUNY Old Westbury's Director of Athletics Lenore J. Walsh has announced that Ryan Pastuch has been named the head coach of the men's volleyball program. Pastuch is the inaugural head coach for the team which played its first unofficial season last year.

"I am excited to welcome Ryan to the Panther community," said Walsh. "Ryan has a rich and successful background in high school athletics. I am excited to see how he can use his experience to develop our up-and-coming men's volleyball program."

Pastuch comes to Old Westbury after holding various coaching titles across the high school and youth athletics landscape over the last few years. Since 2015, Pastuch has served as the head coach for the boys' volleyball team at Calhoun High School.

During his time with Calhoun, he and the team have been able to claim the school's first ever county championship back in 2020. Additionally, Pastuch led the program to county championships in 2020, 2022, and 2023 and conference championships in 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Pastuch has been honored with several Coach of the Year awards throughout his time with Calhoun.

Most recently, Pastuch's 2023 men's volleyball team was able to defeat Jericho High School in a historic run after losing several seniors from the previous season. Pastuch coached the team to secure the school's third county championship in four years.

Pastuch has also coached a variety of other sports throughout his career including girls' basketball and lacrosse at Bellmore-JFK High School from 2017-2023. He has also coached travel basketball for the Storm Academy, and Challenger Sports for special needs students at Calhoun.

Aside from coaching, Pastuch is very involved in his community. He has worked with special needs students at Calhoun High School since 2014. Pastuch also volunteers over the summer at a camp for individuals with special needs in Lido Beach, New York.

Pastuch currently resides in Long Beach, New York and graduated from Hofstra University in 2014.
