SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced Credit Union 1 — a leading financial institution with a nationwide membership — as the official banking partner of the Conference and multiyear title partner of the Credit Union 1 WCC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship.
The partnership was secured by Van Wagner, who manages the WCC’s sponsorship and marketing partners program.
As the Conference’s official banking partner, Credit Union 1 will have a strong year-round presence through WCC marketing platforms and will support the WCC’s innovative conference-wide initiatives, including student-athlete financial wellness programs. Students, faculty, staff and alumni at member institutions will have access to best-in-class banking benefits.
“We are very excited to welcome Todd Gunderson and Credit Union 1 to the WCC family as our leading corporate partner,” WCC Commissioner Stu Jackson said. “Their long-term investment in WCC initiatives and commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience at events aligns with the Conference’s values. The WCC and Credit Union 1 have a strong presence in Las Vegas, and we are thrilled to have the robust support of our official banking partner at our basketball championship.”
The 2024 Credit Union 1 WCC Basketball Championship will take place at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas with 16 men’s and women’s basketball games March 7-12, 2024. The WCC enters its 16th year hosting its premier event in Las Vegas. Credit Union 1 will be showcased as part of on-court and in-arena signage, along with a highly visible digital presence in association with the basketball championship each March.
“Credit Union 1's mission is to deliver a better banking experience for all, and for us that begins with a commitment to community and an investment in the financial success of each of our members," said Todd Gunderson, President and CEO of Credit Union 1. "By partnering with the West Coast Conference, we are able to continue our commitment to financial literacy with the Conference's student-athletes and expand our CU1 community to include the students, staff, alumni, and superfans of these top-tier universities. We look forward to supporting the championship and all the Conference's members both on and off the court."
The addition of Credit Union 1 follows the Conference’s recent expansion of its longstanding relationship with ESPN, which includes over 900 WCC events airing on ESPN platforms each year. All 16 games of the Credit Union 1 WCC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship will air live on ESPN platforms, including six games on ESPN’s national linear channels.
