Ragan Henderson has become an integral part of the Sam Houston athletic department and has served as the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Operations since the Fall of 2023. In this capacity, Henderson oversees the department's budget, acts as the primary sports administrator for men's basketball, assists in the management of the football program, and directs strategic and operational aspects of Bearkat programs.

He is also responsible for managing the department's contract with apparel provider Under Armour.

Henderson's tenure on staff at Sam Houston began in the Spring of 2020 when he was named the department's athletic equipment coordinator and the Assistant Director of Football Operations. This role encompassed overseeing athletic department equipment, aiding in daily operations, monitoring student-athlete academics, spearheading recruitment efforts, and managing the student manager program for the football team.

He was appointed the Coordinator of Sports Operations in July 2022 before earning his Associate AD title in 2023.

A former tight end and running back for the Bearkat football team, Henderson was a member of the most successful senior class in program history. From 2013 to 2017 Henderson helped the Kats win a pair of conference titles, make five appearances in the FCS playoffs - including three times to the national semifinals - and even earned all-conference honors his senior season.

In all, Henderson played in 50 games for the Kats, rushing for 205 yards and six scores while also catching 31 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns in his time. After being almost an exclusive tight end as a freshman and sophomore, Henderson stepped in to play a key role as a short yardage back as a junior. One year later he accounted for nearly 300 yards of offense and three scores on his way to being named to the all-SLC team as a tight end/H-back.

A native of Rice, Texas, Henderson earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Science in Sport Management from Sam Houston. He is married to Kori, a former member of the Sam Houston Track & Field team and a current teacher. Together, they have two sons, Sidney and Lindsey.
