JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University Senior Vice President/Athletic Director Alex Ricker-Gilbert announced a leadership change for the volleyball program on Tuesday as he and Head Coach
Maggie Johnson mutually agreed to part ways.
"Thank you to Coach Johnson for her time and dedication to JU for these past four years," said Ricker-Gilbert. "I wish her the best as she pursues new opportunities."
"The collective success of our student-athletes is always our priority at JU and we look forward to giving our current and future volleyball student-athletes the best environment for that."
Jacksonville is coming off of a 9-19, 6-10 season, in which the team did not qualify for the Atlantic Sun Volleyball Championship. The program last qualified for the postseason in the 2021 spring season.
"I am very thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Jacksonville University and the athletics department," said Johnson. "Those who have been a part of the program have made it a truly special place to be.
"I wish everyone nothing but the best going forward and I know there are great things coming for this young talented group."
One of the oldest sports at JU, the volleyball program began back in 1972 and has made the NCAA Tournament four times in its history, most recently in 2014, when it last captured an ASUN Championship.
Jordan Armstrong has been named Acting Head Coach while a national search for the next head coach begins immediately.
