SWOSU Announces Search for New Head Football Coach

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University Athletic Director Todd Helton has announced SWOSU will officially launch a nationwide search for a new head football coach. 
 
Ruzell McCoy has served as interim head coach throughout the entirety of the 2023 season after being appointed in January.
 
"We appreciate the dedication and hard work of Coach McCoy and his staff during his time as the interim head football coach," said Helton. "As we embark on this search, we are confident in finding a candidate with the vision and drive to move our football program forward. We look forward to the next chapter of SWOSU football."
 
The coaching search comes following a thorough evaluation of the program's needs and goals. SWOSU is committed to finding an individual who will demonstrate unwavering commitment and dedication to the success, growth, and reputation of the football program.

The Bulldogs compete in the Great American Conference as a member of NCAA Division II. The historic football program has won 19 conference championships and captured one national championship.
