VANCOUVER, Wash. – Caldwell, Idaho is becoming a championship city once again as the No. 1 College of Idaho women's cross country became the fourth team in school history to win a national title on Friday.
College of Idaho made its move for the team title as they moved up to the top spot after being in second thru the first 1,000 meters. It was a complete team effort to win the title as the Yotes had finished second on four occasions.
Leading the way was 2023 NAIA USTFCCCA West Region Runner of the Year
Ellyse Tingelstad, who covered the 6k course in 21:16.1 for a runner-up performance and her fourth cross country All-American honor.
Just behind her was
Sage Martin, who won an individual national title at the 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 3000m steeplechase, was just behind Tingelstad in third in 21:39.4. It is her third All-American honor in cross country.
The third Yote to cross the line was
Abbey Shirts, who picked up her second All-American honor as the Weiser native was fifth in 21:41.9.
The fourth runner for C of I was
Kahea Figueira, who also picked up her second All-American honor in 21:46.5 en route to a seventh-place finish.
The fifth runner and the key to the championship was the 64th-place finish of junior
Charlie Duff, who crossed the line in 23:14.1

Molly Connor (92nd, 23:43.5) and
Julia Gilbert (103rd, 23:56.6).
