Term-in-Ology: NCAA Annual Membership Dues

An oft-overlooked, if not ceremonial financial transaction that happens every year are NCAA membership dues. Per NCAA rules, the annual dues for various classes of Division I membership shall be $1,800.00 for active Division I member institutions and $900 for Division I member conferences.

Division II active member institutions must pay $900 in annual dues and Division II member conferences must pay $450 in annual dues.

Division III active member institutions must pay $2,000 in annual dues and Division III member conferences: must pay $1,000 in annual dues.

At one point in the NCAA’s history, the annual dues formula was contingent on a two to one ratio in terms of fees due for Division I in relation to Division II and Division III, for both active member institutions and member conferences. That ratio has not applied in years.
