Term-in-Ology: Photo Shoots for Prospects Visiting Campus

Photo shoots for a prospect during a recruiting visit has become part of the grandiosity of 21st century recruiting.

NCAA rules permit an institution to photograph a prospect during a campus visit; the images can be used in the institution's permissible publicity and promotional activities (e.g., press release, media guide) if the prospect officially commits to the institution and the photograph may be provided to the prospect.

Photo shoots for recruits on campus can be elaborate, Hollywood-style set-ups during a recruiting visit itinerary, with schools going so far as to create highly-designed sets. Programs can even personalize recruiting material so that the end product of these shoots can be posted by the recruit on his or her personal social media platform.
