Oscar Ramos Named Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Athletic Director Todd Helton has announced the hiring of Oscar Ramos as the new Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Bulldogs.

"We were extremely impressed with Coach Ramos throughout the interview process and confident he checks all of the boxes we were looking for to fill the strength and conditioning head coach position," Helton said. "We are excited to welcome he and his family to Bulldog Nation."

Ramos was hired over Christmas Break and has already begun his duties to start the Spring semester. He replaces Austin Stroeh who served as SWOSU's Strength Coach from July of 2021 to December of 2022.

He comes to SWOSU from the University of Idaho where he was the Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning for the football program in 2022.

Ramos began his career in 2016 at the Michael Johnson Performance Center where he had the opportunity to train the USA Olympic Track & Field team, various professional football players from the 2016 NFL Draft, and surrounding high schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

From there, Ramos remained in Texas and spent one year at Performance Course as the Site Director of Sports Performance for Colleyville High School and Southlake Carrol High School before owning and operating his own strength facility from 2018-21.

Ramos, a military veteran who served in the United States Air Force prior to attending college, also trained military tactical forces at Joint Base Lewis–McChord (JBLM) in Tacoma, Washington in 2021.

"Being at SWOSU means a great deal to my family and I as it feels like we are a part of something special," said Coach Ramos. "It will definitely challenge me in new ways, and I am ready to get to work!"

A native of Killeen, Texas, Ramos graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2016. While at UNT, he successfully walked on to the football team at the age of 33.

He is married to his wife Jazmine and has three children Yulitza, Giovanni, and Sebastian.
