#10: Ferris State “is currently processing an appeal of the NCAA’s disciplinary ruling” against student-athlete Hunt-Thompson, who was suspended for the remainder of the playoffs for striking someone with his helmet following FSU’s quarterfinal contest. (link)

#8: With the NSIC moving to 13 FB-playing members next season, schools are faced with the choice to roll with a mid-season bye or try to schedule a rare non-league game. Bemidji State FB HC Bolte: “We have a really good opponent in Week 5, and we have a good opponent in Week 7. Having a bye in between is a good spot. I’d rather play the game, but we’ve got to look at the criteria of if it’ll help us or hurt us. … We’re doing our best to see if we can get an extra game.” BSU AD Lauritson: “Once you get to the NCAA Tournament, you’re playing folks you’ve never seen before from conferences you’ve never competed against. This gives us an opportunity to go seek out really good competition and give us an early marker of where we are with the rest of the region and the rest of Division II.” (link)

#7: Eastern New Mexico FB HC Hiatt has resigned after two seasons in Portales. Hiatt signed a two-year extension this past January. Greyhounds AD Weir: "Coach Hiatt has done a terrific job coaching our football team and building what can be a fantastic future here for the Greyhounds. He took an incredibly challenging situation here and made everything around him so much better during his tenure." (link)

#6: Albany State selects Memphis (DI) Senior Offensive Analyst Gray as its next FB HC. ASU President Fedrick: "His experience in coaching and as a National Football League player and student-athlete has provided Coach Gray with the experience and passion to lead the Golden Rams Football team. As a previous admission, academic, and compliance liaison, he is also committed to academic excellence and student success. It's important that our athletes feel comfortable following a leader that will help them build character and perseverance on and off the field of competition. #4: The DII M&W XC Committee issued a public reprimand to Lee Director of XC/T&F Morgan  for adding a S-As name to the competition list at the South Regional that was not on the original list. Lee was issued a $1,500 fine, Morgan was not allowed to attend the DII Festival and the ineligible S-A's score was vacated. (link)
