#2: New Embry-Riddle AD Rachel Burleson sits down to discuss her vision for the Eagles, what drew her to this opportunity and more. On what drew her to ERAU: “It's a place that we can be successful, being part of something is really all I've ever wanted and being able to have a part in those decisions, those moves and that journey. So really what drew me is that ability. You look at Embry-Riddle as an outsider and that is an institution that is, can be, should be all of the Division II model and the pillars that build Division II is really what we are. […] When I look and think about when I applied for this job, I was very specific right. I knew that this was the job I wanted. I knew that my career had built me to be ready for this job. I've spent my career doing different things and really the last seven years building a culture and a one team mentality and seeing all the successes that come with that. So being able to be a part of something here and with people with such tremendous pride in what they do, student athletes that are spectacular and going to do incredible things in the world and being able to be part of that journey really is the reason I'm here.” Asked about her vision for the Eagles: “The short answer is that we will be an NCAA DII powerhouse, the model DII department. We will have a strong and unified athletic department with a focus on our constituents which culminates in our ultimate goals, success. In its current state, we are an incredible institution with a tremendous athletic department. The coaches, staff, student-athletes, and the University already have an outstanding reputation; however, with a concentrated effort in continuing and building on our current success, the sky is the limit.” (link)
