#8: Oberlin selects Indiana (DI) Quality Control/S&C coach and former UChicago and Case Western AC Pont as its new FB HC. #7: William Peace has canceled the remainder of its WBB season, citing student-athlete health and safety due to low roster numbers. Interim AD Shields: "The health and safety of our student-athletes, both mentally and physically, is our top priority. After conferring with our Athletic Training staff and Head Coach, we have made the decision to cancel the remainder of our season. Our Women's Basketball team has battled through injuries and adversity this season and we are proud of how they represented WPU in the midst of challenging circumstances." (link)

#5: Former Mary Hardin-Baylor WBB HC Morefield unloaded an expletive-filled tirade on his team prior to his separation from the department earlier this week. Linked tweet thread includes testimonials from former student-athletes who assert this was not an isolated incident. Video included. (link); Morefield put out a statement, which reads, in part: “My coaching intensity to build a consistent championship program did not align with [UMHB]. It was not my finest moment and out of character. My emotions got the best of me due to a player who had just torn her ACL moments prior during practice. [...] This does not excuse my actions, and I apologize to everyone affected. I wish the team the best as they finish out the season. I plan to build another program in the near future.” (link)

#3: NYU opened its $1.2B (!) 735K square-foot John A. Paulson Center, which will be the home for MBB, WBB, VB, Fencing and Wrestling. The new court can seat up to 2K, with a new strength training center, Hall of Fame gallery and more. The facility also includes 425 dormitory suites, 42 faculty apartments, 58 classrooms, three theaters and tons more. (link)

#2: John Carroll AD Morgan will exit University Heights to become the new Commissioner of the Atlantic Hockey Association and College Hockey America. JCU President Miciak: "Michelle has been a fantastic leader for John Carroll University athletics during a transformative time in our community. Her dedication to elevating our athletic programs has improved John Carroll's standing in the Ohio Athletic Conference and on a national level. #1: Pfeiffer AD Lafferty announces her resignation. President Bullard: "In terms of her overall tenure as athletic director, Ms. Lafferty's leadership through a period marked by unprecedented change – including a change in NCAA divisions and a global pandemic – required a great deal of agility, persistence, and creativity. And, perhaps what I will remember most is that, as the pandemic came to a close, in summer strategic planning sessions in 2021, Ms. Lafferty unveiled a presentation related to the future of athletic facilities at Pfeiffer that helped set a vision for the future and, I believe, will ultimately impact the university for the remainder of the decade – if not the century."
