As a member of the DII FB Alliance, Ferris State AD Brockelbank continues the push to move away from regionalization. “I think there’s a sense from a lot of us in Division II that the [FB] national championship game is getting played somewhere in a region weeks before the actual national championship game. […] I certainly think if we can avoid this regionalization, not be scared to spend a little bit more money, and I know budgets are always a concern because it does cost to put a team on a plane and get them into another region. But I think there's an opportunity to put a team on a bus and get them into another region and avoid some of those matchups and make sure we have a quality national championship game that people are going to want to tune into because that’s the only time we’re on national TV.” Brockelbank pushes back against the possibility of leagues involved in the alliance breaking away to create their own subdivision, adding: “I think our goal is to grow Division II. We recognize the need to add members within Division II and so we want to make sure it's welcoming for all institutions.” (link)
